To meet the University’s goal of renovating and expanding its Mason and Haven Halls while creating a strong new image for this highly visible structure, EYP created a distinctively modern new facade with materials and proportions that subtly echo the style of Beaux-Arts Classicism. The design also involved a complete upgrade of all engineering systems, as well as the expansion of an existing circulation hub, whose glass wall for electronic and print student postings is affectionately nicknamed "The Fishbowl". A new focal point on the campus’ main South Quadrangle, the facility includes an extensive lobby for student gatherings and activities; faculty offices to encourage cross-disciplinary interaction; a learning center equipped with team learning stations; and a teleconference center to accommodate faculty and student group work.
