Construction of the EYP designed residence hall for The College of Saint Rose has officially commenced and was announced in a press release from the college on Wednesday June 22, 2011.
The residence hall, named Centennial Hall in honor of St. Rose’s upcoming 100 anniversaries in 2020, is 94,000 square feet and will house close to 224 students once completed. In addition to integrating amenities such as a convenience store, various lounge and study areas, a dining option, and a courtyard for outside events, the design of the space also incorporates a plethora of sustainable aspects that exceed the expectations of the New York State building code in an effort to reduce energy demand.
According to the college’s press release, College President, Dr. R Mark Sullivan, explained "More and more, students are seeking on-campus apartment-type residences. Centennial Hall will provide students with the tangible amenities they want and the College with one big intangible gift: hundreds of students who can actively take part in college life days, nights and weekends, then cross the street and be home. In a relatively short time, Saint Rose will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Centennial Hall will stand as a representation of the permanence of the institution, our respect for and allegiance to the history and vision that created The College of Saint Rose, and our legacy as a comprehensive, residential institution of higher learning."
"We are proud to partner with the College, positively contributing to the campus by providing more residential facilities for its students. EYP is pleased to continue our long-term, successful relationship with Saint Rose, and we look forward to bringing this project to fruition," said EYP Project Executive Joe Volpe.
