EYP and MTECH to Collaborate on Energy Distribution Research

As part of a $150,000 Small Business Innovation Research grant awarded by the National Science Foundation, MTECH Laboratories, LLC, is teaming with EYP Architecture & Engineering's nationally recognized EYP Energy group, and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering's Energy and Environmental Technology Applications Center.

The goal of the collaboration is to demonstrate the feasibility of MTECH's novel, high-efficiency energy distribution system for large buildings. The strategic partnership also involves conducting research to advance distribution technologies for use in a variety of locations where high power consumption and cooling are becoming major issues, such as semiconductor manufacturing facilities, hospitals, and large data centers.

According to EYP Director of Energy Services Robert Kennedy, PE, CEM, "We are proud to be part of such an important partnership. Being involved with innovative application of new technologies helps keep EYP on the leading edge of how we can design better, more efficient buildings in the future. We are happy to share our expertise to help researchers understand the physical and operational impacts of their strategies beyond the laboratory setting."
