At the recent AIA CIO Large Firm Roundtable, EYP Chief Information Officer Brad Horst, AIA, NCARB, presented, "Knowledge Capture and KM Strategies," and also, moderated a follow-up discussion with the group. The presentation explored the nature of corporate knowledge and the need for robust, focused knowledge management (KM) initiatives. Reflecting on themes of Integrated Project Delivery, Building Information Modeling, and Project Information Management, Horst discussed how these and other activities can provide a framework for capturing knowledge to drive continuous innovation and superior project delivery.
Including a spirited discussion on tools and techniques for creating, capturing, and sharing knowledge, the session emphasized the importance of support for the firm's strategic plan and practice philosophy. The session concluded with a discussion of how these efforts can ultimately create greater value, deliver better project outcomes, and ultimately drive more revenue.
