Recognizing early on the significance of the University of New Hampshire's James Hall historic renovation project, the university and EYP-led design team documented the entire project on video. Senior Architectural Expert David Fixler FAIA, LEED AP and Senior Architect Peter Miner, AIA are both heavily featured in the video, commenting on various aspects of the project.
According to the Project Director, EYP's Director of Project Delivery Tyson Curcio, LEED AP, "the documentary was very important to UNH to document the development of their campus for future generations." He continued, "It was a great experiment in how we can work with our clients to capture the design and construction process and package it up for all to use."
Originally designed by renowned University of New Hampshire Campus Architect Eric Huddleston in the late 1920s as a colonial revival home for the Chemistry Department, James Hall is reflective of the Georgian architectural vernacular that forms the historic core of the UNH campus along the Great Lawn. The building currently serves as a home for the departments of Earth Sciences, Natural Resources. The university has displayed the documentary video in a kiosk in the building demonstrating the green features of the project, and on its website. Additionally, it aims to air the results on New Hampshire public television and garner further media coverage.
Already, the project was featured in a recent article in The New Hampshire, entitled, "Going Home: Earth Sciences Returns to James Hall". In the words of the University's Project Manager, "...the efforts made to document, produce, and fund the video is already paying off and will continue to pay off as the project gets press. Thanks [to EYP] for your contributions to the video efforts".
