This 350,000-square-foot live/learn facility is home to 460 students as well as the School of Information and four academic units: Screen Arts and Cultures; Communications Studies; the Language Resource Center; and the Gayle Morris Sweetland Center for Writing. EYP’s approach stressed sustainability, strategic adjacencies, and integrated media and technology.
In addition to suite-style residential spaces, dining hall, and café, the North Quad features unique spaces including a film studio and the forward-thinking Media Gateway, an innovative learning commons where ultra-modern technology - including high-definition video screens and floor-to-ceiling text crawls - encourages intellectual dialogue among students and faculty.
Extensive energy modeling identified conservation measures that reduced energy costs by 30 percent beyond baseline.
EYP served as Executive Architect in partnership with Design Architect Robert M. Stern.
