Supporting St. John's University's strategic plan of transforming a commuter campus into a residential college, EYP created numerous living and social spaces for resident and commuter students and faculty. The design included housing for 1,200 freshmen to foster a sense of class identity and community within a comfortable, home-like setting commensurate with that of the college's competitive field. Additionally, EYP created housing for an additional 452 students in a multi-use residence hall, along with an open, light-filled dining hall. The new facility fits the scale and park-like character of its New York City campus, and was designed to accommodate future growth.
