To accommodate the evolving role of the library as well as the more holistic ways in which people study and learn, EYP transformed a 1950s reference room into a new 2,600-square-foot café and learning commons. Wireless data access and numerous power receptacles support 24/7 individual and collaborative study in an atmosphere that blurs the boundaries between traditional academic and social spaces.
New furniture, including upholstered armchairs, high and low wood tables, and stools at granite counters, contribute to a comfortable, “living room” environment. Original bookshelves were left on one wall to display periodicals available for casual reading.
