Our master planning studies substantiated requirements for science instruction and research facilities to support the University's role as the local affiliate for a combined National Science Foundation and international consortium project establishing a Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory (DUSEL) in nearby Lead, South Dakota. Facility programming also detailed enhancements for a student union expansion and new performing arts, fine arts, and business facilities. Sustainability measures include the recycling and repurposing of existing building space and the siting of a bio-mass power plant. Continued enhancement of campus walkways will foster pedestrian movement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the University's Presidents Climate Commitment goals.
