UNH entrusted EYP with creating state-of-the-art, sustainable teaching and research facilities while preserving an existing campus icon. We provided programming, conceptual design, and design services to create a sustainable, integrated science teaching and research center for the departments of Earth Sciences and Natural Resources. Energy-saving innovations include a graywater system, daylight harvesting, and a heat wheel recovery system. Visitors can monitor building energy use live via a kiosk. James Hall is the first academic building in the UNH system to obtain LEED certification. The renewed facility advances science teaching, research and outreach programs and expresses the University’s commitment to science-based ecosystem management.
