Boston Office

EYP’s new office is a design laboratory in which architects and engineers advance innovative ideas for the workplace of the future, showcasing materials and products used in client projects. The project targets LEED Silver Certification. Transparency, flexibility, and environmental responsibility were key drivers of the design process. The team worked closely with staff to re-imagine the 21,000-square-foot office environment as neighborhoods of individual workstations and variously scaled meeting spaces that facilitate creative interactions across disciplines. Back-of-house functions – library, print room, kitchen, and café – are organized into a connective spine to foster collaboration.

The extensive use of glass visually connects colleagues while providing varying levels of acoustic privacy. Pre-engineered, pre-manufactured demountable walls enable easy reconfiguration. Customizable, ergonomic workstations with adjustable-height desks promote user comfort and allow a high degree of personalization. The design incorporates a wide range of sustainable features – including low-VOC, high recycled content furniture/finishes and lighting control systems with occupancy sensors – to improve occupant health and comfort, reduce energy consumption and waste, and achieve operational savings.
