Gallaudet University serves as a comprehensive, multi-purpose institution of higher education for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, and as such, plays a unique role in education, the research community, and public service. The historic Washington, DC campus encompasses approximately 2.5 million gross square feet of built space.
The growth of computers, technology and the Internet have had a dramatic effect on how the deaf and hard-of-hearing are taught. The goal of the 2001 master plan was to reflect the impact of technology and the changing needs of the student population, while creating a more integrated learning environment. The current master plan updates evaluated current and projected academic program needs and institutional goals, and provides a framework for future capital improvement decisions.
EYP is also providing design services for the New Student Academic Center/Student Union Renovation project identified by the master plan.
